INSTALLATION GUIDE FOR BUFFALO Live LS-CxxxL MODEL

Make sure you backup all data already as the process will format your HDD

1. Mount HDD to the BOX to update firmware

2. Connect directly BOX to PC via LAN port or connect BOX and PC to 1 separate switch ( DO NOT
Power ON the BOX )

3. Change PC's IP to 192.168.11.1 ( 255.255.255.0 ) and turn off all anti-virus and firewall

4. POWER on BOX. The BOX starts booting. The LED will firstly flash blue then turn to red. Then
pressing the Function Button makes to LED turn blue.

5. Run TFTP Boot.exe in TFTP Boot Recovery folder and wait 10s for TFTP to start, and then wait
about 1min for the BOX to finish booting. You will see

6. Run LSUpdater in the LSCL-107 folder to update firmware for new HDD, hit the Find button to get
this window

Then click Update to starting updating firmware. Make sure you backup all data before pressing
Yes as the process will format your HDD

The progress will run automatically until it finishes

7. Now return your PC’s IP to the previous usage and connect PC and BOX to router/switch

8. Use NASnavi.exe in TFTP Boot Recovery folder to detect IP of the BOX in the network. Go to
Setup Browser Management to launch the Web-admin

username = admin , password = password

In order to get rid of Japanese, go to the 2nd menu, from the left, scroll down and look for the option
help to change language.

You may press the Apply button several times to get effect

Notes: If you fail to update the firmware and want to retry, you must unmount the HDD and connect it to PC
or HDD Enclosure to delete all existing partitions and keep it unformatted. Then start from step 1 again.
