E-Choupal is a virtual marketplace launched in 2000 by ITC that benefits over 4 million farmers in 40,000 villages across India. It allows farmers to directly transact and realize better prices for their products by connecting them to processors. E-Choupal was created to address the challenges of fragmented farms, weak infrastructure, and many intermediaries in Indian agriculture. It uses a network of local kiosks operated by trained "Sanchalaks" in villages to provide farmers with information on commodities and prices.
