The Doctrine of Caveat Emptor

The maxim of caveat emptor means 3Buyer beware. Law generally imposes upon the buyer a duty to exercise due diligence to make sure the good he buys his purpose. In the absence of any enquire from the buyer the seller is not bound to disclose every defect in goods of which he may be aware.

The Doctrine of Caveat Emptor

The maxim of caveat emptor means ³Buyer beware". According to the doctrine of caveat emptor it is the duty of the buyer to be careful while purchasing goods of his requirement and in the absence of any enquire from the buyer the seller is not bound to disclose every defect in goods of which he may be aware. Law generally imposes upon the buyer a duty to exercise due diligence to make sure the good he buys his purpose. The seller his under no obligation to make know anything about the goods unless specifically asked for it.
