There are several schemes that aim to measure and improve the quality of sports development through assessments of providers. Two major schemes are Clubmark and Quest. Clubmark aims to provide more and better opportunities for children and young people to participate in sports from an early age and potentially progress to elite levels. Quest is a tool that defines industry standards for managing leisure facilities and development, and encourages continuous improvement within a customer-focused framework.

Most schemes try to measure quality in the hope


that this can be continuously improved on.
A range of measures is available for sports
development providers to assess themselves or be
assessed by independent inspectors and the best
schemes are nationally recognised ones.
à There are a number of organisations and awards
that judge the effectiveness and success of sports
development.
Ill be going through two of the four;
Clubmark and Quest

Slide 4:
Aims to provide more & better opportunities for
children and young people.- generally targeting an
increase in participation, to then possibly develop
further up the pyramid to elite level, producing
more athletes at this standard.

Slide 5:
The development of clubs that encourage young
people to take-up sport, improve their talents,
possibly play a leadership role and give them the
option to initiate and maintain life-long
participation in sport is an essential part of
supporting the sporting infrastructure in England.

Slide 6:
Quest is a tool for continuous improvement,
designed primarily for the management of leisure
facilities and leisure development.
Quest defines industry standards and good
practise and encourages their ongoing
development and delivery within a customer
focused management framework.
