Instructions for the Portfolio Analysis Report (Page 2)

1) Fill in your name and the date.


2) Select the analysis technique.
3) Fill in the instrument information. See your instructor for help.
4) Concisely state the purpose of the analysis. Use one or two complete sentences.
5) Results / discussion section:
a) Present the results of your analysis. Only the “results” should be presented here, not all of the
supporting graphs, calculations, etc.
b) Use a tabular format to present your results. If needed, an Excel worksheet is embedded. Double
click to edit it.
c) Discuss the chemistry or chemical importance of the results.
6) State the conclusion(s) drawn from this analysis.
7) Select the class where this analysis was performed. (You should see your instructor if your class isn’t
listed.)
8) This Portfolio Analysis Report should be only one page in length. Additional pages are at the
discretion of the instructor.
9) Attach the instrument method and appropriate spectra as well as any other supporting information to
the back of this cover sheet.
10) Sign and date, and obtain your instructor’s signature, indicating that you have consulted with an
instructor. The instructor’s signature does not signify final approval of the completed portfolio.
