SYNOPSIS :
Instrumentation exposes the students to the terminology and testing concepts of electrical and electronic measurement.
This module introduces the use of potential meter, bridge, electronic meter, operational amplifier, power electronic
component, cable fault and type of sensor.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the end of this course, the student will be able to understand basic principle and function of several familiar instrument
in industry.

SUMMARY :

1. INTRODUCTION
Definition to the terminology related with instrument such as torque, error or damping.

2. POTENTIAL METER @ POTENTIOMETER


Basic circuit of potentiometer and calibration of meter ampere and volt.

3. BRIDGE
The operation and measurement principle of A.C and D.C bridge

4. ELECTRONIC METER
Basic principle of analog and digital meter

5. OPERATIONAL AMPLIFIER
Basic circuit, characteristics, specification and operation of OP-AMP.

6. POWER ELECTRONIC COMPONENT


Basic component and usage of tiristor, power transistor etc.

7. CABLE FAULT
To detect and test the fault location

8. SENSOR
Describe the type of sensor and usage

ASSESSMENT:

CONTINUOUS EVALUATION(CE) : (50%) FINAL EXAMINATION (FE): (50%)


(CE breakdown is based on 100%) (FE is held at the end of the semester)

Experiments : 30% (4)
