How did you use media technologies in the construction

and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Research
Due to media technology we were able to research for our
advance portfolio in depth and able to create our music video
and digi pack to the highest standard we could.
We mostly used web 2.0 for our resources of research we
used:
• YouTube
• Search Engines
• Artist Official Websites

From looking at these resources we realised what we wanted


from our project.
Artist Websites
We searched on artists websites as we could prepare for
our project. We were able to analyse videos, picture and
gather information on what costume to have in the video,
what type of narrative to have, what messages to give to
the audience and look at consumers feedback to the
artist.
This could help us have a better understanding of the
audience which will then lead to us on to having a good
music video and digi pack.

YouTube
YouTube is hugely known all around the world and nearly all artist upload
new music videos on this site.
This is a way for them to show their new music with their audience and
the rest of the world. This also gives the consumer the freedom to give
their feedback.
We used YouTube to research existing media project and analyse and
evaluate them as this would determine what we want from our music
video.
From YouTube we could see which videos have been viewed a lot, see
the amount of likes and dislikes. This gave us an idea of how good the
music videos are to the consumer.
This helped us on planning what conventions we want to use of the real
media.

We used a range of different search engines for our planning.

The search engines helped us prepare for the media projects


and made it a lot more easier for us as we were able to
research by sitting on the computer.

We were able to gather information regarding: artists, songs,


locations, costume, codes and conventions of the real
existing media ect.

We used Google maps to find a suitable area to film and an


area that will work with the song.
We were able to see the clothes that are worn by this hip-hop artist through Google
images. We also discovered a shot in this that we liked and incorporated this into our digi
pack.
I also used Google images to search for UK Grime artists so we were able to see photo
shoots and we were able to use conventions of the Grime genre in our advance portfolio.
For our location shoot we used Google Maps as this saved time and also more convenient
we were able to search for rural areas for our music video.
Construction
During the construction stages of our advance portfolio we used media
technologies.
We used a HD Cannon mini-dv camcorder. The high definition camcorder
allowed us to make the video to a high standard and look more professional
and clear and this would also make the audience get into the music video.
We used Apple iMovie to edit the music video we have created . The
software was easy to use and we downloaded the video from the camcorder,
edit shots, put the in sequin, add music effects and transitions.
For our ancillary task we used a photography camera which had high
megapixels.
We used Abode Photoshop CS5 to edit the photographs and create the digi
pack.
I used www.dafont.com to look for text to have on our digi pack.
Planning
For the planning of our advance portfolio we
used www.blogger.com. We made a blog for our
advance portfolio. Blogger allowed us to keep
track of what we had done and we also uploaded
our work on the blogger so our teachers could be
updates on our work.
We uploaded PowerPoint's, pictures, videos and
embed text. The blog also allowed our work to
be accessed by members of the group easily.

Evaluation
To construct the evaluation for our advanced portfolio we
used Microsoft Office PowerPoint and Blogger.
We used Microsoft PowerPoint to make our evaluation on
PowerPoint and then uploaded it to blogger where
followers of my bloggers and teachers could see the
evaluation.
I used PowerPoint as it is easy and clear to use and should
be understood by people who are going to view my
evaluation. It is also more interactive with the people who
are viewing my blogger as I have made use of different
technologies around me.
