Input Data: Water-Oil System:: Ro RW W

This document provides steady state relative permeability data for a core sample to determine the relative permeability of oil and water. The core was first saturated with water, then oil was injected to reduce the water saturation. Finally, both oil and water were injected at decreasing volumetric rate ratios to obtain steady state measurements. The data includes injection rates, inlet pressures, and core weights at each steady state condition to calculate water saturation and plot the relative permeability profiles.

Homework 8 – Relative Permeability
2 December 2000 — Due: Wednesday 6 December 2000
8.1 Determination of Relative Permeability using Steady State Data.
You are to determine and plot the relative permeability profiles (kro and krw vs. Sw)
for the steady state data given below.

First, the cleaned and dried core was saturated with water (Sw=100%). Then, water
was injected to obtain data for calculation of absolute permeability (Sw=100%).
Next, oil was injected until steady state behavior was observed, reducing the water
saturation in the core to minimum interstitial water saturation. Then, both oil
and water were injected at several decreasing, constant ratios of volumetric rate
(qo/qw=Constant) until steady state behavior was observed for each ratio.

The weight of the core was recorded at each steady state condition to allow
calculation of saturation. You may assume end effects are negligible.
