Stools Graphic

Stools that are healthy are well-formed and the length of a wrist to elbow, resembling a sausage with cracks and a honey brown color. Unhealthy stools can appear as hard lumps like nuts indicating constipation, or soft blobs or fluffy pieces with ragged edges signaling diarrhea. Liquid stool with no solid pieces and mucous or foul-smelling stool may be signs of infection, alcohol, or drug abuse.
