Mass Education Department: About the department: Mass Education Department is an important wing of Directorate of Administration, DHRD Government

of Bihar. The department has the mandate to execute programmes pertaining to promotion of Functional Literacy among Adult and adolescent illiterates (Particularly among age group (15-25). The endeavor initiated by Mass Education Department for adult literacy has been transformed into campaign under which cross section of society are taking part in it. The department has its own reporting structure under Director Administrator. Deputy Director Mass education provide leadership to the department. The Mandate: Mass education department had has been contributing to subside wide spread illiteracy particularly among the adults and adolescent so that they become functional literate and better their quality of life. Various agencies that participate in the scheme are from Central Government/State Government / civil society and the community.The effort has been appreciated from different corner of the society. Akshar Anchal Yozana of Bihar Government has been appreciated even by international community.
