Before the aircraft is awarded the necessary airworthiness certification, extensive tests must be passed during construction.

Installation of the test equipment (flight test installation) is yet another area of expertise at FERCHAU. An AVIATION project team gets to work whenever Airbus Germany has to fulfil the requirements laid down in the certification programme. The specifications are incorporated into the "FTI definition" and the technical solution is then developed. The bandwidth is diverse. Parameters measured include among other things temperatures in the hydraulic or fuel lines, the distribution of air pressure around the wing section and also the humidity level in the cabin. Also recorded are pressures, acceleration rates and loads on the structure.

Our main task is to physically install the sensor units and to run the electrical cables to the test system. This requires close coordination with the development teams of the ATA Chapters affected, because the flight test equipment is installed in parallel with the actual development process.

The work involves complete sets of construction documents, right down to the component drawings and parts list. In addition, if questions need to be cleared up or modifications made during the installation phase, the specialists of the AVIATION division are on hand to travel directly to wherever assistance is needed, where their insider knowledge of the world of Airbus stands them in good stead. Thanks to the long years of working together with Airbus, FERCHAU has a massive wealth of experience and is one hundred per cent au fait with the formal procedures and internal routes.
