The First Americans: 8 Grade Humanities 2011 Green/Pang

Migrants from Siberia crossed a land bridge into North America around 30,000 years ago during the Ice Age. As the earth warmed 10,000 years ago, the land bridge disappeared and the migrants' descendants developed into various hunter-gatherer tribes. By 1400, over 1 million American Indians lived in North America organized into 10 major cultural regions based on shared languages and ways of life. Tribes adapted their shelters, tools, and food sources to suit their local environments.
