Intracoronal Attachments For Removable Partial Dentures
Intracoronal Attachments For Removable Partial Dentures
Intracoronal precision attachments for removable partial dentures are primarily selected when:
A. The retaining abutments are large enough for adequate tooth reduction for the attachment female
to be incorporated into a normal crown contour.
B. Strong or multiple abutments exist as the forces are directed to the retaining abutments.
C. A stable occlusal table is desired.
D. Often opposing either a full denture or a bilateral free-end removable partial denture.
Intracoronal precision attachments are normally rigid or non-resilient directing forces down the long axis
of the retaining abutments. Therefore, multiple abutments are common. Intracoronal rigid attachments
provide for a more stable occlusal table and removable prosthesis.
FR Attachment
The FR system for removable partial dentures is a technological
revolution for what many call semi-precision or "mill-ins." A tapered,
friction retained intracoronal precision attachment for removable
partial dentures with a lingual arm and for segmented bridgework or
non-parallel abutments in fixed bridgework. The female is actually
cast against the prefabricated male for total accuracy, improved
proximal wall contacts, and tremendous time and labor savings.
This simple and inexpensive attachment uses a single investment
technique, eliminates porcelain in the female due to the silicone
male, allows for easy and accurate duplication, no soldering is
needed, easy separation of male and female, and the miniature
size allows for use in ‘close bite’ situations. Easy insertion because
of the tapered male, improved esthetics (no metal on the occlusal), FR Attachment
excellent retention and reduced wear account for this being one of
the most popular attachments in dentistry.

UNOR 10802
UNOR Instructions
Extracoronal precision attachments for removable partial dentures are recommended when:
A. Less tooth reduction is required. Retaining abutments are small to avoid over-contoured
intracoronal attachment abutments and/or pulpal exposure.
B. Extracoronal precision attachment are traditionally easier to insert and remove. These are used for
patients with limited manual dexterity, or the prosthesis has a difficult path of insertion and
removal.
C. The patient does not always wear the removable prosthesis. Intracoronal females in retaining
abutments will collect food and present problems when the patient attempts to seat the
intracoronal retained prosthesis.
Extracoronal Precision attachments are normally resilient to allow free movement of the prosthesis to
distribute potentially destructive forces or loads away from the abutments to supportive bone and tissue.
Three distinctive movements are defined in function: (1) Hinge, (2) Vertical, and (3) rotational.
The fewer abutments remaining, and the weaker the abutments are, the greater the need for resiliency or
free movement to direct the forces away from the abutments to the supportive bone and tissue via the base
of the prosthesis.

Ceka Attachments
Ceka Revax
Ceka Classic
The Traditional Ceka and Ceka Revax systems provide for
hinge, vertical, and rotational movements to provide maximum
abutment protection. Each attachment consists of three
angulations of plastic female profiles with precision metal insert,
male spring pin, and retention component. The three Ceka Revax
angulations allow the user to design the case for the patient’s
needs. Please specify the alloy of choice: Red is Irax, for
precious/semi-precious; Blue is Noprax, for non-precious; and
Yellow is Platirax for all alloys. Also specify the type of retention
for the male spring pin: acrylic, solder, or spacer.
The Preci Vertix and Vertix "P" provides for hinge and
vertical movements. It should be supported by a broad
based ridge. The Vertix is a very inexpensive and popular
system that provides patient comfort and abutment
protection for both mandibular and maxillary bilateral
removable partial dentures. Unilateral free end removable
partial dentures should be cross arch stabilized.
Universal IC Attachment
The IC attachment is a popular spring loaded retaining
attachment that provides free movement for abutment
protection without requiring an abutment crown. The IC
attachment requires a 180 degree reciprocal lingual
arm. The attachment consists of a male anchor and
female inlay. It is made of a stainless, chrome-alloy like
those used for casting partials. It will not tarnish or
corrode, and when properly installed, will not
malfunction even after years of wear. Other benefits
include no pulpal involvement, no gingival retraction IC Attachment
before impressions, easy to adjust at the chair, and this
is a reversible procedure.

OVERDENTURE BARS
Bar systems may be utilized for overdentures, removable partial dentures, and implant prosthesis. Bars
may be rigid or resilient, permitting free movement of the prosthesis to direct forces away from the
retaining abutments to the supportive bone and tissue. Bar systems are generally in one of three types:
The shape of the bar is indicated by the amount of room available, by the shape of the alveolar ridge, and
the type of construction. However, we recommend the round plasti-wax bar, which may be more easily
bent to follow the alveolar crest. Do not engage labial soft tissue undercuts with the denture base flange,
as this will alter the path of insertion and cause excessive wear and servicing requirements.
Preci-Horix/Hader
Hader Bar instructions
The Preci-Horix, or Hader, bar and rider system is
the most popular of all bar systems due to its
economy and simplicity. The Hader bar is available
as a burnout pattern in plastic and plastic wax, and
also in either palladium alloy or a yellow gold alloy.

Round Bar
Round Bar Instructions
A round bar is useful in situations where the bar
must be bent to accommodate the ridge anatomy, or
in close-bit situations.
Ackermann Clips
Ackermann Clip Technique
Due to its short (3.6mm) length, the sleeve may be Ackermann Clips
positioned on the bar even in a deep narrow trough.
No soldering of the clip is required. The horizontal
retention tangs provide firm retention in acrylic and
require no additional vertical space.
C-118 Metal Riders
The Metal Rider is an universal clip or rider that will
fit the Preci Horix/Hader, Preci Bar, or round bar.
The clip features adjustable retention, easy patient
insertion and removal, while requiring less facial-
lingual space due to its occlusal retention tangs.

Ceka Revax Axial & Inverted Axial (M2)
The Ceka Revax and the Axial Ceka Revax stud
attachments both feature a direct cast to capability. The new
Ceka Revax (M2) is the smallest fully adjustable and Ceka Revax Axial & Inverted Axial (M2)
serviceable stud attachment system. This adjustable spring Traditional Ceka Axial (M3)
pin attachment may be utilized as a traditional stud (with cast
copings), or inverted as an intraradicular connector for
overdentures or removable partial dentures on roots and
implants. It may be used for a resilient or tissue born
prosthesis, or for a combination abutment and tissue
supported prosthesis. The small size allows for usage when
space is at a premium--ideal for ‘close bite’ situations.
Clinical, laboratory, and servicing are routine procedures that
are adaptable to the individual’s needs and/or techniques.
Space requirements for the Revax (M2) are 3.8mm in height,
and 3.4mm in diameter. Please allow approximately 4.8 mm
of vertical space for the attachment, acrylic resin, and teeth.
Preci-Ball
Preci Ball Castable Male Instructions
The Preci Ball 22 is a resilient (full rotation) stud attachment.
It is a simple, effective systems, with many options to protect
the abutments and retain both partials and overdentures.
The spherical male attachment is available in a prefabricated
orax alloy for soldering, a burnout plastic pattern for direct
casting, and also a threaded male for direct casting or
soldering. The female is available in a prefabricated alloy
and a threaded female. There is also an optional threaded
replaceable female.

Please note: the OSO Metal Rings are not included with
the OSO attachment. They are available separately.
Sphero Post
Direct Placement or cast coping
The new Sphero Flex Post system is an endodontic post Sphero Flex Post
rotating ball attachment that corrects misalignment in any
plane up to 15 degrees. The advantages of this self
paralleling system are the freedom of movement (resiliency)
that protects weak abutments, the biocompatibility of
titanium, easy conventional techniques, and the small size of
the sphere (2.5 mm). Also, no potential debris can enter the
female, eliminating potential insertion problems. The female
may be seated in the prosthesis, or incorporated in to a cast
frame. The posts are available in three lengths-- 6.75 mm,
8.40 mm, and 9.75 mm. The 2 degree tapered reamer is
used to refine the canal. This system can also be used with a
cast coping.
