SUMMARY OF ARACHNE:
Arachne is a mortal who believes her wool work is superior to Minervas. Minerva hears of her boast and disguises herself as an elderly woman and she gives her a chance to step down and apologize to the god. Arachne still believes she is better than Minerva and refuses to apologize, causing Minerva to return to her godly state and challenge Arachne to a contest that she accepts. They both create intricate designs of the gods from their point of view. Minerva sees Arachnes beautiful work and becomes jealous and destroys it. Minerva then strikes Arachne four times to the forehead who takes it very hard. Arachne then ties a noose around her neck and tries to kill herself, but Minerva pities her and turns her into a spider. This myth this imporatant today because it explains the creation of spiders, and it also tells how to it is not right to boast or brag.
