The document summarizes the development and testing of a new portable perimeter security sensor called the TFDIDS. The TFDIDS combines dual leaky cables that can be rapidly deployed along a detection line with a processor unit. It was tested in various environments and found to detect different human movements like walking, running and jumping across its full range. The tests demonstrated the sensor's resistance to small cable movements, animals and electromagnetic interference. The conclusion is that the TFDIDS shows the first practical application of leaky cable radar for portable surface security, though no system is 100% secure given advancing technologies.

RAPID DEPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT: A need has long existed for a truely portable perimeter security sensor. It can be rapdily installed, calibrated & later dismantled & reused. It does not require linear deployment.

TEST ON A GRASSY FIELD FIG.

In 2004,a new ranging leaky cable guided radar technology called omniTrax was developed. OmniTrax is the latest generation of the guided radar ranging leaky coaxial cable sensor.

This project involved sensor design, production and field testing.

In TFDID project, the key detection elements were successfully combined into an integrated sensor product. The primary components include two dual leaky cables. One is a dual dispensing device for spooling the cabels & the multichannel electronics processor. The processor is housed with four sensor cable, power, alarm for calibration.

SENSOR INTEGRATED TEST FIG.

Deployment involves fully unreeling the cables along the planned line of detection, with the sensor cables. The cables are then connected to the processor & the processor is connected to the power supply & alram reporting device.

The sensor is calibrated using a standard laptop or tablet pc.

At initial and final qualification,TFDID was tested in a verirty of environments,to simulate the expected range application. There three tests were taken.

TEST THROUGH WOODS SIGHT FIG.

From the test ,the TFDID was found to detect the full range of human instruction including walks, runs, jumps.

The sensor was demonstrated to be resistance to small motions of the cables, small animals and EMI sources.

The TFDID project results have shown the first practical application of leaky cable guided radar to portable surface applicationss in perimeter security. We welcom those with specific applications in order to further develop and customize the sensor product.

By using such technology we can overcome many difficulties but it is not 100% secure as many new technology is developing.
