O'Neil Clarke Mathematics Institute Circle Theorem Questions

This document provides definitions and theorems related to angles formed in circles. It defines that an angle formed at the center of a circle is twice the angle formed at the circumference when subtended by the same arc. It also states that an angle formed in a semi-circle opposite the diameter is a right angle, and that angles in the same segment or standing on the same chord are equal. The document poses calculation questions applying these circle theorems to various diagrams.

Number 0. A straight line drawn from the centre of a circle to bisect a chord which is not a diameter is a right angle to the chord. Hence from the diagram AOB is isosceles and hence OAB = OBA

Number 1(a) Angle formed at the centre of a circle is TWICE angle formed at the circumference subtended by the same chord (arc) 1(b) Angle formed in a semi circle opposite diameter is a right angle i.e AXB= 90

Number 2. Angles in the same segment are equal (Angles standing on the same chord are equal)
