Wireless power transmission through solar satellites is a potential solution for meeting increasing energy demands in a sustainable way. Solar energy could be collected in space using photovoltaic cells on satellites and converted to radio frequency energy for transmission to receivers on Earth. This approach has advantages over terrestrial solar in that energy collection is not dependent on weather or time of day and does not create pollution during generation. If microwave beams could be distributed uniformly, they could even power devices like cell phones.
