1. Interpersonal competence theory In this movie, their goal changed Irom exploring the moon to returning back to the Earth saIely. There were several conIlicts among three astronauts, Jim, Fred and jack, because oI Iear that they might die beIore they get to the Earth. Jim, however, showed his interpersonal competence to relax the others so they can achieve their goal. It is also related to goal directed activity which is one oI leadership behaviors. II he did not show his interpersonal competence, it would have been diIIicult to achieve their goal. 2. Argyris`s Immaturity-Maturity Theory There were a lot oI people who were active to Iind out the solution and treated themselves in equal position. For example, Ken, a member oI crews contracts the measles, made an eIIort to Iind out the way to turn computer system on. AIter a Iew Iailing, he Iound out how to supply electricity to the system. It would not have been happened iI he was not active, independent and considered that problem in equal position. Also, this is something to do with goal directed activity. 3. Motivation Hygiene Theory Sometimes Hygiene Iactors such as supervision, working condition or interpersonal relations lead to restriction oI output. In this movie, Gene, a NASA Ilight director and runs the mission Irom the ground and gives instructions to the Ilight controllers, oIIered a good working conditions and supervised them appropriately to accomplish their goal. For example, he did not rebuke them Ior taking oII the sensors on their body. He realized that what they did was what they need now. In addition, Gene`s behavior is one oI the goal directed activity.
