Florence Nightingale Film
Florence Nightingale is truly a legend. She is remembered throughout the world for her gallant effort to make a difference in the field of nursing. Florence Nightingale was born in Italy. She attained outstanding academic achievement in her years attending school. Florence grew up in an elite family and her family expects so much from her. A kind and concerned woman, she decided to train as a nurse. At first, her parents were reluctant on her decision because the idea of nursing was not considered a suitable profession for welleducated women. But Florence was certain of her decision so she did work as nurse and was eventually promoted. She even rejected marriage so she could focus passionately on her career. She was able to help many people including soldiers in the Crimean war. The film Florence Nightingale showed a good proof that the nursing profession is consistently evolving. In the early part of the film, clean environment and prevention of infection was not observed. Before Florence Nightingale was involved in the nursing practice, hospitals in her area weren t able to stand by certain principles and theories of nursing. Through Florence Nightingale s determination to make lives of the patients better, significant changes were made in the field of nursing. Florence Nightingale is the perfect model to nurses. She is a leader, a teacher, a caregiver and a friend. Her judgments were straight and honest. Her actions were very professional. She was very particular of small details that greatly affect the whole system of nursing. Now, as nursing student, I have realized that the service I give to my patients is more than an obligation; it is a service I give out of compassion for others and in my field, mediocrity does not help and develop anything.
