Spa caught cold by Sutton Coldfield Droitwich Spa Men s 4slost 4-0 against a strong Sutton Coldfield conceding

2 goals in each half, as Sutton extended their lead in 2nd place in the league. Droitwich started the game quickly playing the ball around as the new look side adjusted to their new positions. Sutton began to assert their authority on the game in the first half as their central midfielder prompted and orchestrated the team attacks as well as their defensive plays. Despite this dominance field struggled to break down Spa stubborn defence and create any clear cut scoring opportunities, as Grant performed well in goal. Sutton persistence began to pay off as they were awarded many short corners, but defence stood firm as their penalty corner routine was thwarted at the top of the D or stopped on the line. Sutton frustration was eased when Droitwich captain gave the ball away in the 23 and Sutton right wing crossed the ball for their centre forward to finish neatly from close range. Some positional changes ensued by Droitwich, which allowed them to get a foothold in the game and set up swift counterattacks which troubled Sutton back line. Sutton changed their tactics to counterattack and their second came with more than a bit with of luck as they break down their right which found the left wing at the back of the D who put the ball into the opposite corner. For the rest of the half Droitwich defence was stout and the team defended well as a unit. Sutton started the 2nd half quicker with crisp decisive passing, which allowed the half to be more open, as both set of youngsters used their skill. Droitwich new look team pressed a lot higher up the pitch, leaving two back and flooding the midfield to thwart the effectiveness of their central midfielder duo. But this did not stop Sutton, whose third which arrived from a free hit on the half way line, and drove into the circle before offloading the ball to the attacker who fired the ball into the corner. Sutton fourth was another breakaway goal which arrived after a mle in the defence and Sutton fired the ball thorough Cameran legs. The rest of the half saw Droitwich pressurise Sutton defence which allowed forwards to have several half chances but just lacked the composure. Overall this was good display by a very young side that grew into the game, and stand out attribute from the game was the work ethic MOM: Cameran Grant
