GN (BN) Class/ Stock provides dosing information for anxiety disorders of 2-5mg IV repeated every 3-4 hours as needed for moderate anxiety, and 5-10mg IV repeated every 3-4 hours as needed for severe anxiety. It should be taken with food if it causes stomach upset and should not be mixed with any other drugs. Side effects may include blurred vision, paradoxical reactions, dependence, withdrawal symptoms, thrombosis or phlebitis at the IV site, and easy bruising or bleeding. Patients should move slowly when sitting or standing to avoid dizziness, and dangle their legs before getting out of bed.

Indication/ Dosages/ Frequency -anxiety disorders -for moderate anxiety 2-5mg IV repeated in 3 to 4 hrs if needed. For severe anxiety, 510mg IV, repeated in 3-4hrs if needed -recommend taking it with food if it causes stomach upset -do not dilute or mix with any other drug

Mech of Action

Effects?/Adverse Responsibilities Reactions -blurred vision; paradoxical reactions; dependence, withdrawal symptoms -check IV site for thrombosis or phlebitis, which may occur rapidly -tell patient to notify prescriber immediately if easy bruising or bleeding occurs. -instruct patient to move slowly when sitting up or standing, to avoid dizziness. Advice him/her to dangle legs briefly before getting out of bed

Diazepam (valium) Anxiolytic, Anticonvulsant, sedative hypnotic,skeletal muscle relaxant 5mg IV for anxiety

Facilitates/potentiates the inhibitory activity of GABA at the limbic system and reticular formation to reduce anxiety, promote calmness and sleep. Relaxes skeletal muscles and controls seizures by enhancing presynaptic inhibition.

Clarithromycin Antiinfective, Anti-ulcer 500 mg / tab

Inhibits or interferes with bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50 s ribosomal subunits of bacterial chromosome

-advice patient to report any adverse reaction
