Catalog Description

Magnetic Circuits, Transformers, Elementary, Concepts of rotating electric machines. Syllabus Magnetic Circuits: Reluctance, Hysteretic curve, Hysteretic, Analogy of magnetic circuits with electrical circuits. Transformers: Transformer construction, Shell type, Core type, transformers, Principle of transformer action. Ideal two winding transformer. Transformer phase diagrams phased diagrams of ideal transformer under no-load, lagging load & leading type of load, phased diagram of practical transformer under various types of loads. Rating of transformer, open circuit and short circuit tests. Per unit system, voltage regulation, losses & efficiency, separation of hysteretic and eddy current losses. Testing of transformers, Auto transformers; Parallel operating of single-phase transformers with phased diagram for each condition. No load and on load, Tap changers on transformers. Single phase & Three Phase, Induction Regulators. Three Phase Transformers: various types of connections ((, YY, (Y, Y(, zigzag, open V, T and Scott connections and their transformation ratios. Concepts of rotating electric machines, Synchronous speed, slip conditions for torque production.
