What we are learning In Reading- The story this week is Me on the Map. It is a nonfiction piece that teaches beginning map skills. In phonics, we are studying the long sound of a with silent e. We will also work on classifying and catagorizing. In Writing-We are working on writing for different reasons. We are beginning to find ways to elaborate on a topic. In Math-We are working on Subtraction Strategies to 12. In Social Studies-We will work on the character quality of caring for the month of February. We will also work on map skills to coincide with our reading story.
Our Calendar
*Tues., Feb. 14-Valentines Day! We will have a low key celebration in which we will exchange cards. Keep in mind that our focus is friendship, not romantic love. Please help your child decorate a shoebox to be used to collect Valentines. If you need help with materials, let me know. *Mon., Feb. 20-No school! Presidents Day
We have begun a new behavior plan in the classroom. A weekly beehavior chart will come home each Friday. Please acknowledge and reward your childs appropriate behavior. Thanks.
Stay Tuned! The children voted to adopt Rosie, the manatee who lives at Homosassa Springs. Our field trip to Homosassa has been scheduled for March 22, so save the date. We are planning a field trip to the Alachua County Transfer Station at the end of February. A date will be confirmed soon.
