Analysis of Daddy
Analysis of Daddy
Tone The tone for the poem Daddy by Sylvia Plath was accusatory, acerbic, and bitter because, of all the hatred she had built up towards her own father. Figurative Language
You do not do, you do not do Any more, black shoe In which I have lived like a foot For thirty years, poor and white, Barely daring to breathe or Achoo.
Sylvia Plath is comparing herself to a foot, and is also comparing her father to a shoe in this stanza alone.
Theme I think the them of this poem is unhealthy relationships. Interpretation I think this poem is about how Sylvia Plath feels about her father in general. I, personally, think she despises him. I believe, she has always wanted him dead for some time. For example in her poem she mentioned, Daddy, I have had to kill you. You died before I had time.
