In offices, computers are used for word processing, data storage, and other tasks to improve efficiency and competitiveness. In schools, computers are used for administration, computer-aided instruction, research for students and teachers, and simulations for subjects like medical training. Computers are also widely used for computer-aided design and manufacturing in design fields. At home, computers are utilized for education, recreation, communication, and multimedia functions. A new emerging use is personal robots in the home.

Computers are used in many areas of our society and our lives. The computer can be seen in offices, schools, designs, homes, medicine, banking, government and law enforcement. Whether we like it or not, we interact with the computer on daily basis. Computer in the office Offices invest computers and other related equipment because there is a need for information to be efficiently produced at a fast speed so that they can effectively competes with the outside market.This is called Office Automation and the components are Wordprocessing and reprographics. Computer in education Uses School administration Computer Aided Instruction (CAI) Aids in research for both students and Teachers Teachers can use special software to simulate dangerous experiments Medical students can operate on computer-simulated patients

Computer in design Manufactures, engineers and designers are using computer-aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) as their tool in the design and manufacturing process. A CAD system is primarily used to create 3D geometric models of objects structures or assemblies. CAM is the use of computer-controlled machines to actually produce a product. Computer in Education Teach children Play games recreational activity for family members Do word processing Send e-mail Watch movies, play CDs use of multi-media feature of modern computers

A new area where computers area having an impact in the home is the use of personal robots
