Syllabus Tourism Planning and Development

This 3-credit course on tourism planning and development provides students with an overview of integrated and sustainable tourism models at global, national, regional and local levels. By the end of the course, students will be able to identify and evaluate the impacts of tourism, compare tourism development policies, and understand principles of sustainability and community participation in tourism planning. Students will be evaluated through quizzes, assignments, exams and a term paper to demonstrate their understanding of concepts, strategies and approaches for destination tourism planning and management.

Syllabus Tourism Planning and Development

COURSE TITLE :

TOUR 3 TOURISM PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT This course is designed to enable the students review, analyzed, and application of concepts, strategies, techniques, and approaches associated with destination tourism planning and development and management. Emphasis is on integrated and sustainable tourism planning and development models at global, national, regional, and local community levels. THREE (3) At the end of the course, the students are expected to: 1. To identify and evaluate the critical, social, cultural, political, environmental, & economic impacts of tourism policy, planning and development; 2. To identify tourism development policies and practices in both developed and developing countries;
3. To identify principles, processes and techniques for preparing local,regional & national tourism plans;
