TITLE: REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH PROGRAMMES AND SERVICES WITH A GENDER PERSPECTIVE, A CASE STUDY OF GEDU

ABSTRACT Key words: Reproductive health, GAD, men-involvement, Gedu The gender issue in reproductive health programmes and services is well recognized and well understood globally. There has already been a shift in approach from Women in Development (WID) to Gender and Development (GAD). The formulation of National Plan of Action for Gender in itself is

an important realization of the Bhutanese think tank in placing due emphasis on gender perspective. The authors attempt to explore the opportunities where men involvement in reproductive health programmes and services can be made. The paper also includes a study of the situation of reproductive health programmes and services in Gedu with respect to gender perspective. The study is community based and includes the various stakeholders of the programmes selected for study. The authors find the need for further men-involvement in the area and seek attention of the decision makers.
