Formula of Confession The priest may begin by greeting you with a prayer You make the sign of the

cross. Then say: "Bless me Father for I have sinned". He will then give me a short blessing in which I then say: "I confess to God almighty, to blessed Mary, ever Virgin, to all the Saints, and to you Father, that I have sinned very much in thought, word, deed and omission, by my fault, my fault, my most grievous fault. Especially since my last confession which was (tell how long) ago". These are my sins (tell your sins, and number of times) "For these and all my other sins that I cannot now remember, I am truly sorry, firmly resolve not to sin again and humbly ask pardon of God, and of you, Father, counsel, penance and absolution". The priest may ask you questions or give you advice. The priest will give you your penance and will ask you to pray the Act of Contrition

THE CONCLUDING RITES The concluding rites consist of a. Brief announcements, if they are necessary; b. The priest's greeting and blessing, which on certain days and occasions is enriched and expressed in the prayer over the People or another more solemn formula; c. The dismissal of the people by the deacon or the priest, so that each may go out to do good works, praising and blessing God; d. The kissing of the altar by the priest and the deacon, followed by a profound bow to the altar by the priest, the deacon, and the other ministers.
