Create Printer

This document provides instructions for configuring, locking, and deleting printers in SAP. It also describes deleting old spool logs. To configure a printer, enter transaction code SPAD and click Create. Enter the printer name, type, class, model and location. Select the host spool access method and printer. Save the settings. To lock a printer, check the lock printer checkbox. To delete a printer, select it in the output devices list and click Delete. To delete old spool logs, enter transaction code SPAD, go to the admin tab, click Delete Old Spool Requests, and enter the minimum age to delete logs older than that.

Create Printer

Printer Configuration:

Create Printer:
1. Enter the T Code -SPAD. 2. In Spool Administration screen, click on Display against Output devices. This will list out all output devices configured in SAP system.

2. Click on Create button to add new printer.

3. In Device Attribute Screen below, put name of Output device, Device type, Device Class, Model and Location of Printer.

Lock Printer: if we check the lock printer check box then the printer is locked. Short name: For internal system purposes (can be automatically generated).

4. In Access method screen, select Host Spool Access Method and Host Printer.

a. In the Access method field, choose method L for a UNIX host. b. For a Microsoft Windows host, choose access method C.

5. In Host Printer you can attach default printer of the machine where user has logged in, by writing "__DEFAULT".

6. In device attributes tab it shows Host spool cover page options , it shows like ..

In Printer mode drop down it contains below options

7. In Tray info tab it shows page format types.

8. Click on save button to save settings.

Delete Printer:
1. In Spool Administration screen, click on Display against Output devices. This will list out all output devices configured in SAP system 2. Select the printer you want to delete and click on delete button.

Delete Old Spool Logs:


1. Enter the T Code -SPAD. 2. In Spool Administration screen, go to admin tab. 3. Click on Delete Old Spool requests. 4. Check "Old Spool requests older than the maximum set age". Enter the minimum age. And press Enter. It will delete the old spool requests.

Note: The number of spool work processes is defined by the parameter rdisp/wp_no_spo, and this must always be set to at least 1.
