Quality Function Deployment

Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a structured product development process that translates customer requirements into a program to deliver what the market wants. It uses multiskilled teams to understand customer needs and determine the technical requirements at each stage. The House of Quality is a diagram used in QFD to relate customer desires to a firm's capabilities through a matrix, evaluating competitors and basing products on customer desires.

House of Quality
House of Quality is a diagram, resembling a house, used for defining the relationship between customer desires and the firm/product capabilities. It is a part of the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and it uses a planning matrix to relate what the customer wants to how a firm is going to meet those wants. It looks like a House with a "correlation matrix" as its roof, customer wants versus product features as the main part, competitor evaluation. It is based on "the belief that products should be designed to reflect customers' desires and tastes.
