Codes of Ethics

Codes of ethics provide general guidelines for an organization, while codes of conduct specify actions in the workplace. Developing codes is important as they establish norms and beliefs for an organization. It is essential to periodically update codes to reflect changes in society and organizational needs over time. Corporate codes of ethics typically address categories like being a dependable organization, avoiding unlawful activities, treating customers well, and prohibiting harassment. Regularly reviewing codes is important because ethical values and priorities for an organization may change over time.
