Prerequisite: Basics of Electrical Science, Mathematics background including Differentiation, Integration and complex algebra Objectives: At the end of the course, the students must be able to: 1. Identify the components of power system. 2. Analyze linear electric/magnetic circuits. 3. Analyze simple single/three phase ac circuits. 4. Explain the principle of operation of transformer and induction motors. 5. Derive the equivalent circuit model of transformer and induction motor and estimate their performance indices if the parameters are given. 6. Comprehend and appreciate the features of basic measuring instruments. Evaluation Plan: Assignments 10 % In semester examination 40 % (Two compulsory tests of 20 marks each) End semester examination 50 % (Minimum for pass: 18 out of 50)
