What is it?

Remind101 provides a safe way for teachers to text students and stay in touch with parents for free.

How Might You Use It?


Field trip reminders, motivational messages, homework/exam reminders, schedule changes, fun facts, trivia... Its a great way to communicate information to students and parents safely!

Is it safe?
Teachers never see students phone numbers. Students never see theirs. Remind101 tracks a message history and its only a one way broadcast, so students cant reply back.

Parents in our class really like the service. I send out one message in the afternoon Monday-Thursday. Ill occasionally send out a text on the weekends. There is no additional cost to the service depending on your text-messaging plan.

Thanks to Remind101, Ive been able to circumvent communication failure so far this semester. My students are still talking about how awesome it is to receive messages from their teacher. They come to my class prepared and on time more regularly than I have ever experienced. Parents have told me that they enjoy feeling more in the know of what their student is doing in my class. And after I shared Remind101 with other foreign language teachers at Mill Creek High School in Hoschton, Georgia, the entire department adopted the practice en masse.

How do teachers use Remind101?

One way Remind101 has revolutionized our school is through the new building we are constructing. In June, the school I teach at, Rocky Mount High School in Rocky Mount NC will move into a brand new, state of the art building with all of the latest technological features, as well as being an eco-friendly building. One Remind101 account we have set up is a chance for students, parents and community members to receive alerts with new building progress stats and links to slideshows for updated photos of the construction. While people cant always enter the construction site because of safety reasons, every one in our town can feel connected and in the know about our new school via these announcements.

By enrolling students and parents, students do not have the excuse I forgot to write my homework down or I didnt know what we had for homework.

I use Remind101 for keeping students and parents up-todate on assignment due dates, exams, senior visitations by college representatives, and community meetings. It has made a HUGE difference for many students in getting homework in on time as well as taking materials home at the end of the day. It has also kept ME more organized, I have more time to prepare and plan. It has NOT been more work utilizing Remind101 - its actually been less in the long run. SO happy that I ran across this last fall - thanks Remind101... and I know my kids would thank you as well.

How do teachers use Remind101?

Prior to starting to use Remind101, I had very little homework turned in and minimal parent contact. By using the service and targeting student populations by their language, I was able to connect with students and their families via a personal medium (text) in their own language. I coupled my Remind101 use with Google translate and leveraged my colleagues to ensure that the language was accurate. I started seeing dramatic behavioral outcomes, not just in terms of homework turned in, but also in conversations with students. Students began to open up because we had a connection.

Before using Remind101, only 10/24 parents showed up to Parent Teacher Conferences, since using it 21/24 showed up.
