Carnot Cycle; Carnot Efficiency, Otto, Diesel, Dual cycle and their efficiencies. Properties & Classifications of fluids, Ideal & real fluids, Newtons law of viscosity, Pressure at a point, Pascals law, Pressure variation in a static fluid, /Introduction to Bia fluid Mechanics General description of fluid motion, stream lines, continuity equation, Bernoullis equation, steady and unsteady flow. Turbines and pumps. ( PART B ) Introduction to Manufacturing processes, Primary and Secondary manufacturing process. Introduction to casting, Application of metal casting process, Material for casting processes Casting Terms ( Moulding Flask, Parting Line, Bottom board, Pattern, core, core prints, chills, Elements of Gating system) Basic steps in casting process ( pattern making, core making, mould making, melting and pouring, solidification and mould breaking, cleaning and finishing) Pattern Allowances, Types of pattern Welding : Definition, classification ( Fusion Welding, Solid state welding ) Types of welding joints ( lap, but, edge, . Fillet joint) Edge preparations for butt joint ( straight, Single V, Single U, Double V, Double U, Single Bevel, Single J etc. Details of Arc & Gas Welding.
