Goals and Objectives


This course is designed to impart the concepts of electromechanical systems. A variety of electromechanical devices like Motors, Generators and Transformers shall be presented in the course. The International standard practices shall also be illustrated. The aim of the course is to help the students acquire comprehension of fundamental concepts of electromechanical systems employed in the real world. Course Description By the end of the course, the students will be able to; To understand principles of AC and DC motors and generators, and AC transformers and how they work. Basic concepts of magnetic circuits as they relate to voltages, currents, and physical forces induced in conductors are covered, including application to practical problems of machine design. Practical analytical models for most types of motors, generators, and transformers commonly used in industry

Grading Policy
Quiz policy

The quizzes will be unannounced and normally last for ten minutes. The question framed is to test the concepts involved in last lecture. It will be the instructors will to choose the number of quizzes for evaluations purposes. Conduct of Labs The labs will be conducted for 3 hours every week. A lab handout will be given in advance for study and analysis and will be put in lecture notes folder. The students are to submit their results by giving a lab report at the end of lab. The lab reports will be evaluated. One lab report per group will be required. However the individual will be evaluated be done by oral viva during the lab. Assignments In order to give practice and comprehensive understanding of subject, home assignments will be given. The students are advised to do the assignment themselves. Copying of assignment is highly discouraged and taken as cheating case and will be forwarded for disciplinary action. The questions in assignment are more challenging to give students the confidence and extensive knowledge about the subject and enable them to prepare for the exams.
