MS Assembly (11:40 A.M., FAT)
Dear Students: We hope you had a memorable CWW experience, made some new friends, and deepened connections with current friends. In the weeks and months ahead, enjoy the memories that linger in your mind and build on the experience by becoming more active in Homebase, grade level and school-wide activities. Keep the spirit of team building and community alive! This Friday is the first party of the year for grades 5 and 6. Please make sure to bring in your signed permission slip so that you can attend the party and enjoy the fun. The party for grade 7 and 8 students will be next Friday, October 12. We hope to see as many people as possible enjoying the company of their friends. MAP testing starts this week in English classes. Make sure to get a good nights sleep and eat a healthy breakfast. This is not a test you can study for so relax, take a deep breath, and take your time when answering the questions. Sincerely, Mr. Gillespie and Ms. Sayson

When: From September 19 to October 12, 2012 Why: We can make lives better as a Middle School community in helping our service partner. This year, instead of a Diaper Drive, CCV has asked for food because of a decrease in their international funding. As a non-profit organization in residential care of physically and/or mentally abandoned children, they need help to provide for seventy three children with ages ranging for one to twenty-five years old. Where: Collection points will be in each grade level, there will be Homebases assigned for each house. How: Students voluntarily bring food to the designated drop off point. In each grade level, each HB/classroom teacher will have a sign on their door of their house, so there should end up (hopefully) a couple of rooms per house per floor. And then October 11, we put them all in front of the Intersection by house and see whos got the biggest pile. :) On October 12, the house with the most food gets the most points. For any questions see CCV Club Members or Ms. Vergel or Ms. Lim-Torres :)
The ISM Cross Country team will race at Faith this Saturday, results for all the meets completed during the season can be found on the Cross Country results page. http://atac.ismonline.org/atac/1st-season/cross-country-race-results/ The ISM MS Tennis program runs during 2nd second season from mid/late October thru to early February. Our teams play in the ISTA League Tennis Tournament which conducts an age group divisional round robin tournament with playoffs and finals at seasons end. For the 2012-13 season we have entered one girls team (Gr.5-8) and 2 boys teams (1 gr. 5/6 team and 1 gr. 7/8 team) Each team will be made up 8-10 players who will be selected at the conclusion of the tryouts at the start of the season. Tryouts dates for MS tennis team selection are Oct 18-19. See flyers around school notice boards and on ATAC blog. Players wanting to make the school team must attend both tryouts sessions to be eligible for team selection. If you are interested in trying out please register your name ahead of time by sending an email with your full name, grade and year born to Mr. Pekin [email protected] NOTE* Grade 8 girls or boys who are born '98 are eligible to play for the MS team. If you are grade 8 and born'97 you must try out for the HS teams! A great way to stay in touch with the ISM ATAC program is to subscribe via RSS feed to the ATAC blog and also to follow via twitter (see twitter feed on the blog home page). Each Monday, I will post the weeks happenings and highlight important events for students and parents information on the ATAC blog and in the regular Friday parent bulletins.
