Week beginning: 1/10/12 Learning Outcomes


Show & Tell

Room: SUNSHINE Activities L/O

Educator: Valaree Description


Children have a strong sense of Identity 1.2 1.1 Children feel safe, secure and supported. 1.2 Children develop their emerging autonomy,
interdependence, resilience and sense of agency. 1.3 Children develop knowledgeable and confident identities. 1.4 Children learn to interact in relation to others with care, empathy and respect.

o Children bring special items from home to show and tell the group about it, encouraging discussions and questions.

Greetings & Goodbyes


o Children acknowledging peers and their parents as they arrive and leave. 1.4

Planting Outdoor

o Plant different vegies and learn how to care for plants on a daily basis.

Children are connected with & contribute to their world


2.1. Children develop a sense of belonging to groups and communitiesand understanding of the reciprocal rights and responsibilities necessary for active community participation. 2.2. Children respond to diversity with respect. 2.3. Children become aware of fairness. 2.4. Children become socially responsible and show respect for the environment.

Painting
o Encourage children to paint plants, caterpillars, rainbow, butterflies ( spring theme)

Outdoor play
o o o o Taking turns with play equipment Using words to express feelings and emotions Encourage children to solve conflicts between themselves Practise STOP and GO with use of sign by playing games 2.3

Racing games outdoors

o Running from one fence to another with teacher as a group o Use racing as a cue for transition (Outdoor indoor), waiting outside gate in a straight line after the race.

3.1. Children become strong in their social and emotional wellbeing.

Room Rules
o Talk about expectations in the Sunshine room (good manners, not hitting or mistreating our toys). Brainstorm good and positive behaviours and choices. Talk about our responsibilities in the Sunshine room like packing up after ourselves etc. 3.2

3.2. Children take increasing responsibility for their own health and physical wellbeing.

Meal time
o o Focus on finishing our food and good table manners. Pick the quietest table and reward good behaviour with table points. 3.2

Play Dough

Children are confident & involved learners


4.1. Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity,cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and reflexivity. 4.2. Children develop a range of skills and processes such as problem solving, inquiry, experimentation, hypothesising, researching and investigating. 4.3. Children transfer and adapt what they have learned from one context to another. 4.4. Children resource their own learning through connecting with people, place, technologies and natural and processed materials.

o Play dough with shapes and cutting objects to promote creativity and experimentation. (encourage child to mould favourite character)

Literacy Table
o The very hungry caterpillar - encourage imagination and retelling the story through threading with the use of visual picture cards. Introduce die game midweek.

o 4 puzzle on the table with alphabets to extend problem solving skills.

o Free drawing, talk about childrens drawing. o Letter A template to encourage children to write.

Sensory Tub Outdoor


o Coloured water with frogs, flowers, scent , Foam shapes, butterflies, leafs (visual, tactile, auditory, taste and smell)

o Cars and traffic signs (Sense of community)

Home corner
o Encourage children to cook together and cooperate.

Book corner

o Different picture books, focusing on The very hungry caterpillar.

Children are effective communicators


5.1. Children interact verbally and non- verbally with others for a range of purposes. 5.2. Children engage with a range of texts and gain meaning from these texts. 5.3. Children express ideas and make meaning using a range of media. 5.4. Children begin to understand how symbols and pattern systems work. 5.5. Children use information and communication technologies to access information, investigate ideas and represent their thinking.

Group Time
o Show and tell : rotating schedule o Interactive story books and activities on alphabet/numbers. Taking turns to come up and solve the problem. o Writing: Practise writing letter A on the board and brainstorm ways we can remember and recognise letter A. o Music and movement e.g. Makka Pakka dance, jack in the box Puffer train, 5 little ducks, Goldilocks & 3 bears, Wheels on the bus etc. 5.2 5.3 5.5
