McGill Pain Questionnaire

The McGill Pain Questionnaire is a tool used to evaluate pain and determine the effectiveness of interventions. It consists of three sections that assess the sensory, affective, and evaluative qualities of pain, as well as how pain changes over time and its intensity. Respondents select words that describe their pain from lists organized by pain descriptor type and rate items on scales assessing pain patterns and triggers. Scores are calculated based on the selected words to quantify pain severity, with higher scores indicating greater pain. The questionnaire was developed at McGill University and has been translated into several languages.
