Lesson Plan R

This daily lesson plan outlines a mathematics lesson on symmetry for 3 pupils. The lesson will teach pupils to recognize and sketch lines of symmetry. It involves showing pictures with symmetry, identifying symmetrical patterns, and recognizing lines of symmetry in 2D shapes. Pupils will complete worksheets to reinforce the concepts and answer at least 80% correctly. The lesson incorporates visual aids, group work, and discussions to engage multiple intelligences and develop cooperation.

CONTENT a) Can you see any pattern on the butterfly, leaf, sea shell and bird? b) Is there any pattern which looks alike on the butterfly?

TEACHING AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES 1. Teacher displays power point slide showing pictures of butterfly, leaf, sea shell and bird. 2. Teacher asks the pupils several questions based on the slides. 3. Teacher checks pupils answers and responses. 4. Teacher introduces the learning outcomes of todays lesson. 1. Teacher displays the picture of a butterfly using power point slides. 2. Teacher guides pupil to recognize the line of symmetry through questioning. 3. Teacher guides the student to understand the term line of symmetry by displaying in power point. 4. Teacher repeats steps 1 and 2 using picture of leaf and rabbit. 5. Teacher asks pupils to show the line of symmetry in PowerPoint slide.

Step1 & 2 (15 minutes )

Recognise lines of symmetry in the environment. - Teachers Questions: a) Are the patterns alike (similar)? b) Are the 2 parts of the pattern mirror images of each other? c) Can you trace the line that divides the butterfly into 2 identical parts? Reference: Appendix 2.0 Appendix 2.1

Reinforcement activity LO: Recognize lines of symmetry in environment. (Table 1) Object Symmetrical line Yes No / /

1. Teacher divides pupils in pair. 2. Teacher distributes Worksheet 1 to each pair. 3. Teacher explains the task to be completed. a) Find whether there is symmetrical line in the picture. b) Tick your answer on the task sheet. 4. Pupils complete the task according to the instructions given in the task sheet. 5.Teacher discusses the answer with the class by displaying Table 1 in power point slide. 6. Teacher will give stickers for each pair who tick the answers correctly.
