Introduction
Thank you for coming to our class today! My buddy teacher is next door and she can help you with any questions you might have. Before 8:20am, please fill out the attendance sheet at the front of this binder and turn it in to the secretary.

Note: my introduction was much longer, and included information about the paraprofessionals in my classroom. (I edited it for confidentiality.)

Class Routines
Morning routine: When students come into the classroom, they do the following: hang up backpack, put agenda into box, and go to their assigned area at table Lunch/ breakfast routine: Teacher and TAs take assigned student to cafeteria and feed and assist the student(s) that they have for the week. Bathroom routine: We go to the bathroom after breakfast and lunch. We change students if they are wet and allow students to go the bathroom if they ask to. All students are encouraged to use the bathroom during assigned bathroom times. Dismissal routine: See dismissal page for bus numbers and parent pickup information.

Classroom Management
Students may need verbal redirection during class activities and lessons. Students who need a break can go into the sensory room. Our school has a PBIS (a behavior support plan). The plan involves a color system that is posted on the wall. Students start on green every day and can move to yellow, red, and blue for misbehaviors. Also see school rules/ policies.

Emergency Procedures
Evacuation procedures: Head students to back parking lot, move quickly and quietly; Follow evacuation exit routs diagram. Make sure students are 400 feet from nearest building. Keep students grouped. Report missing students to CRT member. Remain outside with students until notified otherwise by Administration. Fire: Evacuate students to designated spaces outside. Take head count and roll. Report missing students to appropriate CRT member. Medical Emergency: Notify the office immediately to the Principal. Notify 911 if directed to do so by Principal. Monitor the subject while help is arriving. Keep crowd away from subject. Tornado: Move students to pre-determined areas in accordance with tornado drill plan (therapy office). Monitor students to guarantee that all are in safety position with tornado strikes. Get students quiet so they can hear the Hall Monitors commands. **Your emergency procedures are likely to be different, just insert them on these pages.**

Emergency Procedures
Bomb threat: Evacuate students quickly to the back lot or beyond. Leave doors and windows open. Take head count once outside to make sure all students are safe. Report any missing students to the Crisis Response Team. Keep all students outside until all clear signal is given. Explosion or Earthquake: Duck and cover. Stay in this position until the evacuation signal is given. At the evacuation signal, evacuate building in accordance with evacuation plan. Intruder: Supervise students inside building. Put out red card if missing a student or green card if you have all your students. Notify CRT (Terry Holms) of missing students. Secure students and lock classroom doors and allow no one to enter or exit. Supervise students outside building (keep them outside until all clear signal is given).
