6. Instructional Objectives:

Students will have a greater general understanding of boat driving rules. Students will be able to explain in detail the rule of give-way and stand-on.

c. Students will know the technique for docking a boat in calm conditions.
7. Instructional Procedures
a. Lesson Set: Learners are directed to a detailed explanation and
video demonstrating the rule of give-way and stand-on. Learners are also presented with a simple image based explanation of the concept. The learners are next shown a video discusses the techniques for docking a boat under various wind conditions. They are then presented an image based instruction for docking in no wind conditions.
c. Lesson Closure: Learners close the lesson by playing a Docking
Simulation game. Once they have completed the activity the lesson is complete. They can then proceed to the next lesson by following the provided navigation. 8. Adaptations for special learners: The computer based approach to this lesson will allow students with special needs to use a screen reader, interpretive software, adaptive keyboards, special input device, or other assistive technology as necessary. These students can also be given more time to complete the lesson if needed or placed with other students in groups or pairs as necessary. 9. Supplemental Activities: Extension and remediation: Students wishing to expand upon learning content provided by the lesson will be provided with links to additional online resources. They will also be provided information on taking a licensed boating safety class offered by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, U.S. Power Squadrons, or certain American Red
Cross. Students I need of remediation will be able to freely access the course website on their own to repeat lessons and perform self-study. 10. Assessment/Evaluation: An informal evaluation will be performed by students completing a selfevaluation using Qualtrics. 11. Learner Products: No product will be created from this lesson.
