ANNEXURE-II FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME FOR THE 20 IIITS (MoHRD, Govt. of India, New Delhi) Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India intends to establish twenty Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT) on a Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership (N-PPP) basis. The partners in setting up the IIITs would be the MHRD, Governments of the respective States where each IIIT will be established, and the Companies that come forward and get selected. The Faculty Development Programme aims at enhancing the academic, intellectual and human environment in the Institutions by providing faculty members with enough opportunities to pursue research and also to participate in seminars / conferences / workshops. Participation in such programmes would enable faculty members to update their research, pedagogical skills and understand the larger goal of education. The number of Ph Ds produced in India is dismally small. This needs to be corrected not only to improve the availability of faculty for high quality institutions but also to support and strengthen Indias leadership role in the IT industry. Therefore an ambitious scheme to enroll lecturers and get them to do PhD in a Lead Mentor Institution which has a strong R&D base. Under this scheme, graduate students with B.Tech or M.Tech degree will be hired as Lecturers at the new IIITs. These lecturers would do PhD programme at the Lead Institution. The Lecturers selected would register for PhD programme at the Lead Institution and spend the first year at the Lead institution doing course work as well as undergoing training for teaching. In the second year they would spend at their respective IIIT teaching courses as well as exploring research areas and identifying a guide at Lead Institution. In the third year, they again spend at the Lead Institution to work on their research and they would also teach at their home institution through distance mode at half the teaching load. In the fourth year, the lecturers would spend either at their home institution or Lead institution. The schedule would be determined on a case by case basis depending on the progress of their research.
Candidates selected for the Lecturership will be provided a salary of Rs. 35,000/- per month, contingency and conference travel support. There would be budget provision for candidates to attend high quality international conferences abroad once in 2 years, for presenting a paper.
ANNEXURE-III TA/DA RULES FOR REIMBUSEMENT All shortlisted candidates called for interview at Guwahati shall be reimbursed travel and other allowances under the following terms and Conditions: 1. To and fro air fare (within India) from the usual place of study/ work/ residence of the candidate to Guwahati and back by an economy class no frills airways or equivalent fare on submitting proof of actual travel. 2. Rs. 1000.00 two way from the port of disembarkation (Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati, Guwahati Railway Station, Rupnath Brahma Inter State Bus Terminus, Guwahati) to the venue of the interview for outstation candidates only. 3. For candidates coming from outside the State, a boarding and lodging allowance of Rs. 2500.00 for one night may be provided on need basis. 4. Candidates traveling by road (public transport only) and railways to and from Guwahati shall be reimbursed actual fare on production of journey tickets.
