Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai (2011) is a 126 minute Japanese drama film directed by Takashi Miike. It tells the story of Hanshiro, a samurai with no resources, who goes to the residence of the Li clan to perform ritual suicide. The clan's director, Kageyu, a stubborn warrior, tells Hanshiro the tragic story of Motome, a young ronin who recently came to the clan's residence to do the same. Hanshiro is disturbed by Motome's horrific end but maintains his desire to die with honor. However, at the appointed time of his ritual suicide, the three deputies Kageyu were strangely absent.
