Information Broadcasting: Authorizations

New Authorization Object for Information Broadcasting S_RS_BCS. This object determines the users scheduling options
Fields:
ObjectType: Three instances: Query, Template & Workbook ObjectID: QueryID / TemplateID / WorkbookID EventType: DataChange or TimePoint EventID: DataChange - InfoProviderID TimePoint - Timepoint ID (as specified during timepoint definition)

Administrator Authorizations for Broadcasting are maintained via the existing authorization object S_RS_ADMWB The field RSADMWBOBJ has been enhanced with BR_Setting "Broadcasting Settings". The existing activities are:
03 (Display) 16 (Execute, for Broadcasting also schedule) 23 (Maintain, including delete)
SAP AG 2004, SAP TechEd / BW254 / 44

Information Broadcasting: Authorizations

This results in the following authorization checks:
Which Query / Web template / Workbook ("basis objects") can an end-user launch in the Broadcaster and maintain settings for?
Display Authorization for basis object needed

Which Broadcasting Settings of a basis object can be displayed, changed or deleted by an end-user?
Users without Admin Authorizations can do this only for their own Broadcasting Settings Users with Admin Authorizations ( S_RS_ADMWB with 'BR_Setting') can do this for all their settings (Activity for display/change will be checked)

When will an end-user be able to broadcast a setting directly? (i.e. "Execute" Button
Needs authorization to execute the basis object If he wants to pre-calculate with other users authorizations, he needs the authorization to do batch scheduling for others To run other users settings he needs admin authorization with activity execute

When can an end-user run broadcasting settings on data change events or pre-determined time points?
Corresponding authorizations in S_RS_BCS for object type and -ID of the basis object, event type & event ID are needed If he wants to pre-calculate under the name of other users he needs the authorization for batch scheduling for others
SAP AG 2004, SAP TechEd / BW254 / 45

Information Broadcasting: Authorizations

When can an end-user run Broadcasting Settings under a self determined time point?
Authorization to schedule a job If he wants to pre-calculate under the name of other users he needs the authorization for batch scheduling for others

Who can delete registrations on data change events or time points?

Every user for his settings Admin user (with activity 16) for all settings

Starting Information Broadcasting - The Role

With EP 6.0 a BW specific showcase role will be delivered to enable a quick start for Information Broadcasting com.sap.ip.bi.business_explorer_showcase You can use the delivered role & objects as they are or as a template for your own design

The portal role Business Explorer provides you with:

Business Intelligence content provided by SAP BW Various tools of the Business Explorer Suite Various possibilities to work with documents using Knowledge Management and Collaboration
SAP AG 2004, SAP TechEd / BW254 / 56

Starting Information Broadcasting - The Role The Portal Role Business Explorer contains the following elements:
My Portfolio - shows your KM-folder Personal BEx Documents (/~alias~/userhome/<user.id>/Personal BEx Documents) BEx Portfolio - shows your KM-folder Public Documents (/documents/Public Documents) BEx Web Analyzer - enables you to navigate in BEx Queries and analyze data BEx Broadcaster - enables you to precalculate and distribute BEx Queries, web templates and workbooks Collaborative BI - Contains various Knowledge Management iViews for discussions, collaboration rooms and notifications
Discussions: allow users to exchange thoughts on a particular subject or document. The basis for such a discussion can be documents and links that are provided by BEx Information Broadcasting Collaboration Rooms: enable groups of users to share information and applications. Contents of SAP BW can also be integrated Notifications: inform you about changes to a document you subscribed to (e.g. availability of a new precalculation)

SAP AG 2004, SAP TechEd / BW254 / 57

Defining iViews & Folders with the BW Layout Set

In order to visualize your KM Folders in the same design as delivered via the Showcase Role you have to create a KM Navigation iView for them and assign the delivered BW Layout Set:

Result:

SAP AG 2004, SAP TechEd / BW254 / 58

Defining iViews & Folders with the BW Layout Set

Step-by-Step Process
Create KM Navigation iView Got to Edit Layout Settings Broadcasting_prog Specify the Path to the Displayed Folder to be displayed initially /documents/Public documents Specify the Path to Root Folder (The Folder to which an enduser should be able to backstep)

You can also set up your own iView to display a users personal BEx documents. Go through the same procedure as described on the previous slide
Create KM Navigation iView Edit Layout Settings As Path to Initially Displayed Folder specify /~alias~/userhome/<user id>/Personal BEx Documents

The Personal BEx Documents Folder is created automatically the first time a user logs on to the Portal or the first time a BW document is broadcast to the users favorites
