John Hahn, DPM, ND will present at the August 2009 AANP meeting in Washington State. Presentation title: How to Detect Illicit Drug Use in Your Patients

This presentation will review the medical background of various recreational drugs that are
commonly abused by patients that may be seen in the naturopathic setting.
The presentation will review the common street names of various recreational and illicit drugs.
The presentation will also review the physiological changes that these drugs make within the
human body along with the mental and emotional changes.

The presentation will also discuss various clinical findings for patients who are abusing illicit
drugs and also laboratory testing.

Learning objectives for this presentation would be to familiarize naturopathic physicians with
commonly used illicit drugs and their various physiological emotional and mental reactions when
taken. Emphasis will be placed upon clinical diagnostic recognition of suspected illicit drug use
and appropriate counseling and therapy.

Presentation outline: a PowerPoint slide presentation discussing the common street names of
illicit drugs and their physiological /mental emotional reactions when taken by naturopathic
patients.

Target audience will be naturopathic practitioners, medical and osteopathic practitioners, and
medical students.

Biographical sketch:

Dr. Hahn completed his undergraduate studies at Sacramento state University in California. He
attended the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, where he received his
Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Degree. Dr. Hahn completed his surgical residency at the
California Podiatry Hospital, in San Francisco, California.

Dr. Hahn received his degree as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from the National College of
Naturopathic Medicine, in Portland, Oregon. He is Board-Certified in Foot Surgery, and the
American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He has received advance certification in injection and
radiowave sclerotherapy and endovenous RF ablation. Dr. Hahn is a member of the American
College of Phlebology. He is an active staff member of Gresham Station Surgery Center, in
Gresham Oregon and Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital, in Portland, Oregon. He is currently in
private practice in Portland, Oregon with an emphasis in aesthetic medicine
