extended kudos to those involved with selecting such versatile equipment for all ages. Southlands Student Council and students raised $889.48 for people impacted by Hurricane Sandy. The students were proud to recognize the IB PYP learner traits: caring, principled, and thinker in this special initiative. Special recognition goes to Div. 3 and 4 for raising the most money. They enjoyed hot chocolate made by the student council members. Well done! Foodbank collection has begun. The goal is 2 boxes/division which we should meet easily. Other Business Teacher Wishlists Based on a survey of teachers, and with agreement from Ms. Nemeth and input from Mr. Jung regarding the specifics, the teachers have chosen projecting capability as their primary request for a technology upgrade. Taking direction from VSB technology experts, AB makes the motion: With the school upgrade budget that was agreed to at the 2012 Southlands PAC Annual General Meeting (approximately $15,000) the PAC Executive, in accordance with teachers' wishes, recommends

that the Southlands PAC purchase a projector and screen for each classroom as well as an extra set for the library (11 sets at approximately $800/set = ~ $9000). We further recommend that 2 laptops and 2 camera projectors be purchased that can be shared by the teachers for a total of about $3,000. With the remaining funds (about $3,000), parents recommend that the school purchase (awesome!) new singlets and/or shirts and/or uniforms for the school sports teams, and then split the remaining funds equally between new novel sets and junior manipulatives (likely to net out at just over $1,000 each). Moved: AB moves. Seconded: Gayle McLeod seconds. Motion: Carried. All are in favour. Band Concert: Arrive at 5:30. AB will get flowers for Ms. Siedleki. Cookies and coffee/tea to be sold. Admission by donation to the Vancouver Foodbank at Ms Siedlekis request. Traffic Safety: If we undertake to continue our complaints to the City, the traffic police have offered to write letter of support. Jennifer Thornley asked how the traffic volunteer kids will be acknowledged this year. In the past they have had a trip to the PNE sponsored by the VPD. JT will look into options including Playland discounts or movie night and will report back at February meeting. Airband: KN will look into the history of Airband performance at the school and the possibility of having an airband performance this year. HM is putting up sign up sheets for volunteers for the Holiday Revue. She will also send a copy to Liping Wu for translation.

Swingset: The issue of funding the balance of the accessible swingset (after individual fundraising by parents) will be considered at the June AGM. KN asks that we consider a swing that can be converted back in the future if there is no immediate need for it.

Grade 7 Gift: The grade 7s are thinking about their leaving gift to the school this year and are considering an automatic sign, however it might be beyond their budget. Also there is no outdoor electrical source so the VSB will need to install that at an unknown cost. MK will supply KN with plans and KN will investigate VSB installation costs. It was also suggested that this could be a VSB incurred expense in order to market IB at Southlands and could perhaps be bundled with other electrical upgrades including wifi to save costs.
