SITUATION

1. TAKING A PHOTOGRAPH OF SOMEONE WITHOUT ASKING THEM FIRST

IDENTIFY THE RISK (FROM THE LEAST RISK TO THE GREATEST RISK) The risk of taking a photo of a person without their permission could be the person physically hurting you; hitting you. As well as you getting reported in doing this, this could also affect you as you may not be able to take photographs in the future.

WHO COULD BE HARMED BY THIS RISK Taking a photo can be a very sensitive matter, as you-the person taking them can get hurt by them raging in anger and hitting you. Also the camera can be misplaced/broken.

HOW COULD YOU MINIMISE THIS RISK To minimise this situation you simply have to ask the person please may I take your photograph, for a media project Im doing, if they do not want to then you happily say thats fine thank you, respect there answer and walk away. Asking a busy person who is perhaps on the phone or carrying a lot of items, may not be the best. You could find another person who isnt doing much. Try not get into a situation like this, you would choose a more appropriate location to take the photograph, or choose the least busy staircase where not many people use. To choose a different location as this is would not cause congestion or disruption.

2. TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS ON STAIRS

The risk of taking photographs on the stairs is obvious however, you could get injured very seriously, as you may fall down the stairs, or block the passage on the stairs which can cause conjunction. You and many others can get badly injured; the camera can also be broken by people walking past. This can also be a health and fire hazard when in an emergency. The risk of the person in the photo or the person taking the photograph could get run over in the car park or damage other people cars with the exposure of the light from the camera.

3. TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS IN FRONT OF EXITS SUCH AS DOORS 4. TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS IN THE CARPARK

The person who is being photographed- they may slip and fall whilst posing for the photograph- for example by standing in a difficult posture for a great deal of time, also the camera may be broken if dropped down the stairs. Many people can be harmed as walking in and out can cause traffic and especially automatic doors people can get trapped. Many people can get harmed in taking a photo outside, as people parking the car have to be extra observant when parking as they are taking the photograph, also the people taking the image can get injured.

To minimise the risk, you could choose a car park where it is not at its busiest-the time of day. Maybe being cautious about where the photo in the car park is being taken.
