Outline For Internship Report
As per the MMS syllabus, it is compulsory for every MMS student to undergo 8 weeks (2 months) Summer training after 2nd Semester. The summer training is an integral part of MMS programme and aims at achieving the following objectives :
To get industrial exposure for application of theoretical knowledge with practical solutions and enrich ones understanding, knowledge and skills.
Gaining deeper understanding in specific functional areas. Helps in exploring career opportunities in their areas of interest.
For the same the student is required to submit a report to the institute. CHOOSING A TOPIC Your Internship Report should be based on a specific aspect of the relevant organization where you intend doing your internship, e.g. HR, Finance, Marketing etc. In this regard, a generalized study report is not acceptable.
Discuss topic and ideas for Report with your supervisor. Write your Report according to guidelines provided in these guidelines. Provide your Report to your supervisor for review at least a week before your Internship ends. Style - The Internship Report is expected to be analytical rather than descriptive. It should contain accurate, factual information together with sound arguments and conclusions.
The report should have both secondary and primary data. Data... the binding should be in black binding..., the report to be printed in 2 copies and original to be submitted to Institue Library by 15th August 2012. The Title Page should be on the Institute Format, the name of the Institute details should be show on top.. Check the Old Reports from the Library and than make necessary changes wherever required.... GENERAL GUIDELINES All the students are required to follow the following instructions:
Each student will have to submit the project report in the recommended format. One copy is to be submitted to the Institute by the student individually on or before 15th August,2012 . Students will submit the report in the Library.
Student will have to appear for the viva after the report submission in the institute. The internship report should be properly typed. Submitted both in hard copy as well as soft copy. The typing format should be used Times new roman, 1.5 spacing and 12 font for the text and maximum 16 for the title. The internship report should be original, no photocopies are accepted. The length of your Internship Report should not exceed 13,000 to 15,000 words or 60 to 70 pages . Use standard formal level of English (no slang or colloquialisms). Use a good quality white bond paper. Use only one side of the page for all text and figures. Start major sections of the report on new page. Bind the Internship Report in a suitable protective cover. Leave margins of 1" on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. Student should submit their project on time. No excuse will be entertained in any case. Students have to collect a certificate from the company after completion of your internship (COMPLETITION CERTIFICATE)
Every report should have a certification from the employer who had engaged the student for those 8 weeks in a given firm/company. The visiting card of the concerned authority should be stapled along with the certification and should be added as the second page, just after the covering page.

Body of the report - Sector overview
Content: Subject and purpose of the report: states briefly why the report is being written and what the report is intended to achieve. 4. RESEARCH OBJECTIVES AND METHODOLOGY Brief write up on what the research objectives (both primary and secondary) are and what data collection methods are used in the research. With details on target audience, sample size, tools used, sampling plan.. (Note It may vary from project to project. Students are advised to discuss this method with their immediate supervisor and do it accordingly.) 5. SECTOR OVERVIEW: SECTOR DETAILS ON WHICH THE COMPANY IS OPERATING Recent trends in the sector, Number of players involved, Market share, Opportunities to be explored in the sector etc. 6. COMPANY DETAILS: OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY This section should answer the following questions: Give a brief history of the company,
Provide an organization chart of the company, along with information on the number of
employees.
Who are regarded as the customers of your internship company/institution (consider the end
users, retailers, other manufacturers, employees, etc.)? 7. INTERNSHIP ACTIVITIES: PRIMARY FINDINGS This is the main body of your report. You should present the activities performed during the internship period. This section should contain the primary data collected by the student and its analysis. 8. AN ASSESSMENT OF THE INTERNSHIP In this section you should answer the following questions What skills and qualifications you think that you have gained from the internship? What kind of responsibilities you have undertaken during the internship period? How do you think the internship will influence your future career plans? How do you think the internship activities that you carried out are correlated with your classroom knowledge?
9. CONCLUSION
Finally, the salient conclusions from your work should be summarized. Try to avoid repetition and making this section too long; it is supposed to represent the most important findings not every single finding! Each conclusion should be presented as a separate paragraph. RECOMMENDATIONS Should be ideally in points again. Should be in line with the research objectives ideally company specific recommendations are preferred instead off general recommendations.
