Welcome back Recreation Association! Spring semester has officially gotten underway and we are excited about what is in store for our members. Stay tuned for information about upcoming conferences, service learning opportunities, and special events. Happy Spring semester from Off the RECord!
What happened
We are proud to say that last semester was a great success! Some of our events included, members attending the NRPA conference held last October in Anaheim, CA, Resume Workshop courtesy of Career Services, and our end of the year Chipotle/Christmas Tree Lane Social.
Whats happening
Backcountry Film Festival: Thursday, February 28th Join the Recreation Association, REI Fresno and USU Productions for the 8th annual Backcountry Film Festival. The festival highlights the fun and magic of our countrys winter backcountry through a collection of films that celebrate the human powered experience. At the same time, it raises funds to help Winter Wildlands Alliances efforts to protect wild areas throughout the country. Raffles for amazing prizes, delicious food and a chance to experience the beauty of the Backcountry. Doors open at 6:30, Films start at 7. Tickets: Students- $2, General Public- $3.
Yosemite National Park: Saturday, March 2nd Free entry into the park, dinner provided by the club and a great experience. Once in the park, members can choose a hike in the Yosemite Valley or Ice Skating (additional cost). Sign-ups are on a first come first served basis so sign up soon to reserve your spot by emailing [email protected] or messaging the Recreation Association on Facebook. Recreation Association Members ONLY. Conference Scholarships: Deadline to apply, March 22 nd The Recreation Association is pleased to be able to offer up to $100 conference scholarships to its members To apply, submit the following to PHS 121 two weeks before your chosen conference or by March 22nd, whichever comes sooner o A well written letter (addressed to the Recreation Association Board) identifying the conference you will be attending, your anticipated benefits of attendance, and the registration cost. Also indicate if you are receiving financial assistance with the associated costs from any other source. The letter should include your full contact information, including student ID number, email, and phone. o Acknowledgement of the following requirement: Scholarship applicants chosen must contribute 2 hours minimum of community service at the Recreation Associations April 11, 2013 special event. o A copy of your original registration receipt Applications will be reviewed late March and winners will be notified by early April. The number of scholarships given will depend on the number of eligible applications. Verification of attendance and expenses will be required.

Why should you come to events and meetings? Not only will you build friendships, learn new things, and give back to the community BUT!!! The Recreation Association now has a point system to reward members who are involved! Earn points for attending events/meetings and have a chance to win cool prizes!
