Transaction STMS in Client 000 Will

Transaction STMS in client 000 will activate the Transport Management System (TMS) on an SAP system, designating it as the transport domain controller. This will generate a transport domain and group, user TMSADM, required RFC destinations, and file DOMAIN.CFG to store the TMS configuration. STMS will also assign the system a transport domain name, create the CPIC user and RFC destinations, and set up communication with the new transport domain controller.

domain controller should have: High availability A high level of security A high level of maintenance

Transaction STMS in client 000 will:

To activate the TMS on an R/3 System, run Transaction STMS in client 000 with user authorization S_CTS_ADMIN.si When a transport domain controller is first created, the TMS generates: A transport domain and a transport group User TMSADM The RFC destinations required for the TMS File DOMAIN.CFG in directory bin of the common transport directory, for storing the TMS configurationgn the R/3 System as the transport domain controller

Transaction STMS in client 000 will:

Obtain

the transport domain controller address from DOMAIN.CFG (or you can explicitly define the address) Create CPIC user TMSADM in client 000 Generate RFC destinations automatically Send the R/3 Systems request for participation in the transport domain to the transport domain controllerCreate transpo rt do ULOG- This file contains individual return codes for all the transport steps performed in the transport directory The SLOG file is used to monitor the transport activities of a specific R/3 System The ALOG file records the return code for all transport steps handled in the common transport Directory globallyain name DOMAIN_<SID>

Transaction STMS in client 000 will:

Assign the R/3 System a
1. customizing request (Contains client specific changes recorded in a single client) 2. Workbench request (Contains changes made to the repository objects of ABAP work bench) 3. transport of copies (Allows to transport any sub objects into object list to any other SAP system) 4. relocation (Use this when development system of a complete package is to be changed on permanent basis)

s the transport domain controller Create transport domain name DOMAIN_<SID> Create transport group GROUP_<SID>

Memory for database (once per R/3 system)

Rule

of thumb: 20% of the total physical memory (of all servers) 500 to 800 MB (depends on applications used) 12 MB per work process 10 to 20 MB per user

Memory for R/3 buffers (once per R/3 instance)

Approx. Approx. Approx.

Memory for R/3 work processes R/3 extended memory Physical main memory (RAM)
Virtual

memory should be < 2* the physical memory
